i'm wide awake, it's morning

whats going on folks. once again i'm in the computer lab just trying to finish up the homework and presentations that i have due this week. this is dead week...and i either have a test, paper or presentation in every single class. then next week i have a final in each one of those classes as well, ridiculous. i'm not sure exactly why teachers think this is a good idea for them or for us, but they choose to do so. i'm getting closer to being finished with everything, even though i'm on xanga right now, i should be finishing the other papers i have. i'm meeting with a group for my persuasion class at noon and we're presenting tomorrow on the mac vs pc advertising campaign. i'm pretty pumped on the material we're analyzing, lets just hope we can squeeze 25 minutes and 2 page outline out of it. we haven't quite started anything yet so yeah...we've got some work to do today.

in other news my buddy lelan from up here in emporia has just moved back from his 3 month internship in memphis, tn. his dad just got a job in topeka with the BNSF railroad so he doesn't have a place to lay his head as of right now and on saturday moved into crystal and i's spare bedroom. he's lookin for jobs and other places to live pretty soon but right now is just relaxing and visiting all the friends and family that he hasn't seen for 3 months. he's definitely my bestfriend up here so its really good to have him back around to hang out with and ride bikes with.

it just got ridiculously cold this morning and it wasn't much fun getting out of bed. i haven't gotten as much sleep as i've been used to the past couple of nights so i've really been dragging in the mornings. i'm chillin in the comp lab all in sweats and some running shoes, i am definitely skankin it up right now. i've got class at 10 then i'm heading home for lunch at 11 so i should probably hop in the shower and change up some clothes. but anyway crystal and i are well into painting our front room a beautiful new color and we've been putting on the primer and patching the walls since sunday. its starting to look a lot better and we can't wait to have our living room back in order. hopefully we'll hang out there a ton since it'll be like its a brand new room. so i hear tales that snow may be in our forecase for today, that would be sweet. i hope you guys are doing wonderful and i can't wait to get out of this ridiculous place and come home for an amazing christmas. i love all you guys and miss you something terrible.

the get up kids and graduation

heeey everyone, or well at least those that may still read this blasted thing. so yeah its been a while again and its almost christmas time and that means that i'm just about to graduate college. if dec. 20th could be tomorrow and i had all the crap done that i need to have finished that would be amazing. its been 5 in half years of college and jumping through these ridiculous hoops and writing these terrible papers that honestly don't mean anything to anyone. but hey, i've learned a little, figured out that i hate advancing digital media and what its doing to our social interactions. especially text messaging, and if it weren't for some of the theories that we studied i would have probably been sucked into wanting a cell phone with the internet on it, which i think is absolutely terrible as well. if i can't live without facebook or youtube in my pocket or by my side at all times then there is definitely something wrong. alright moving on...

crystal, cale and i went to kansas city a few weeks ago and watched the get up kids play their first show since 2005. it was amazing needless to say. they played their 1999 release "something to write home about" from start to finish and then a few other favorites like campfire kansas, mass pike, up on the roof and walking on a wire for the encore. they kept the show super on the down low and i didn't find out it was definitely happening until the wednesday before the show and it was on a sunday. i was really glad that crystal got to come along so she could experience the greatness that is the get up kids. they are doing a full tour and releasing a 10 year anniversary cd/dvd of something to write home about in the spring. so yeah, we're definitely going to hit them up again in '09. there were dudes there in line at like 4:30 in the morning, and we didn't show up until around 3 in the afternoon and we were still front row center. it was 18 and over, and most of us that love the get up kids are getting closer to our mid 20's so not many people were fighting for the front you know. things change at shows drastically as you get older. anyways, it was one of the best shows ever, definitely the best i had been to in quite a while cause i don't go to many anymore.

crystal and i are getting ready to paint our front room and buy a christmas tree (a real one) so our front room will soon smell really piney and christmasy if you will. we've just been hanging out in emporia, working and trying to get my graduated from this darn school up here. two days after christmas crystal, clayton, their mom and dad and i are all going to monarch mountain in colorado to go skiing. i have promised myself that when we get there i am going to get on top of a mountain and scream at the top of my lungs in celebration of being done with school. as for now i have no aspirations of grad school, but i don't want to say 'never' cause we all know how that goes. but right now...i feel like i never ever ever ever want to go back to school. i'd rather be doing something that i feel like is making a difference in someone else's life, whether or not i'm making much money at it...i just want to make a difference, a good one. hope you all are doing amazing, i miss you all...a lot. ellis, drew, reid, doug, greg, heflin, s4m, traci, chris, taylor and the rock. i just realized yesterday that when i go home i never even think about the rock anymore...man its crazy. well i bid you all a farewell and hope you have an amazing christmas.

fall time = awesomeness

so it is for sure fall time now considering that i was up and at work at 7 am this morning and it was a mere 37 degrees outside. it's gorgeous and i'm definitely wearing a hoodie right now. crystal and i built out fire pit in our backyard this summer so we're for sure going to be giving it a lot of use as soon as we get to spend some more time here on the weekends. i started a new job on monday working for eric pauls, a contractor here in town, he owns paul's productions construction company. he's a great guy to be working with and we're doing a lot of remodeling right now and have a couple of roofing jobs coming up. i really like this kind of work and even though i'll probably only be working for him until january it will be a good inbetweener kind of job. thats right...inbetweener. after i graduate in december i've been kicking around the idea of being a case manager for the east kansas mental health place here in town. they are always looking for more case managers and i think its something that i could enjoy and actually make a difference in someone's life at the same time. we'll see how that pans out. and then crystal and i will just be working on rennovating our house and then i have no idea what is next after that. a breakfast shop maybe? a bike store? who knows...not i. i'm off to get some lunch and then back to work. i'll talk to you guys later.

heeey every one, how i miss thee so. crystal and i will be heading down that direction in one week's time to see the fam. i'm hoping that we can hit up the new coffee shop downtown since we haven't done that yet. last weekend cale, crystal's dad, my friend anne marie (from here in emporia) all went and did the MS150 bike ride/fundraiser on saturday and sunday. we rode 84 miles on saturday and 66 on sunday to rack up 150 for the weekend. it was absolutely and completely gorgeous outside and it could not have been better weather for sleeping in a tent and riding all day long. the people at the MS society really put on a good ride so it's really enjoyable to be out there for the good cause. so s4m i was wondering what week/weekend the hobo stir might be on...let me know brotha, and once again if it isn't being scheduled then we need to plan some time all together at big hill or something and we'll make our own hobo soup. i love you guys...have a good weekend.

deas vail is releasing their new EP "White Lights" on aug 26th. they're streaming it on absolutepunk.net and it takes like 5 sec. to register and is completely worth it. they have a pre-order right now where you can get the actual hard copy of the album for $5 with free shipping. or you can get it on itunes with a bonus live and acoustic in studio track, also for $5. call me old fashioned...but i would prefer picking up the hard copy. definitely check this out because its some of the best new music out there. also they'll be playing in emporia sometime this fall which is tba, but i'll for sure let you guys all know when that is happening. go sink your teeth into some awesome tunes.
